Open heritage day
As has now become traditional, you can visit the historical buildings in the Bruges town centre which are opening especially for this occasion.
Saturday from 14.00 to 18.00, Sunday from 10.00 to 13.00, and from 14.00 to 18.00.
Sunday 17 September
During the 10th edition of the Car-free Sunday, you can enjoy a wonderful town with very little mechanical transport.
A completely traffic-free area has been determined in which the passage of all cars, motorised transport and saddle-animals is prohibited: Zuidzandstraat, Steenstraat, Markt, Breidelstraat, Burg, Burgstraat, Langestraat, Hoogstraat, Mallebergplaats, Philipstockstraat, Geldmuntstraat and Noordzandstraat.
Various town council departments, private organisations and inhabitants are organising free activities and animations for young and old throughout the town centre between 10.00 and 18.00.
Car-free Sunday closes with a concert by the group “De Mens” in the Market Square.
Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Monday 25 September from 11.00 to 21.00
CookEat is a meeting place for all those who want to sample culinary treats, prepared by Bruges’ best chefs. For three days, 32 top chefs will serve culinary treats in a large open-air restaurant.
Visitors can compose their own menu from a wide offering of gastronomic delights at reasonable prices.

Bruges in Choc (chocolate event)
Crazy about chocolate? Then you cannot miss ‘Bruges in Choc’. The Guild of Bruges’ Chocolatiers warmly welcomes you to this two-day event, and introduces you to all facets of chocolate.
Enjoy workshops, or assist at captivating demonstrations such as bodypainting with chocolate. And of course, taste the flavour of real chocolate.
From 10.00 to 18.00 in the Belfort and Town Halls in the Market Square
Entry: 4 euro.
Sunday 15 October
Great Bruges Marathon
The event has been given a great spot in the international running calendar. The marathon starts in the historical centre, at the Dijver. The runners first head for Zeebrugge before finishing in the Bruges Market Square.
The participants will get acquainted with everything Bruges offers.
Apart from the marathon, a half marathon is also on the programme. Both distances are accessible for both runners and walkers.
Saturday 28 October
Iedereen Klassiek – Everyone Classical
‘Iedereen Klassiek – Everyone Classical’ will once again take place on Saturday 28 October. The “Concertgebouw” concert hall is preparing an exuberant programme, which will branch out throughout the entire town centre.
“Iedereen Klassiek” submerges you in a joyful bath of classical music. In the town centre, many shops will give a musical flavour to their shop windows, and there are free guided tours on a ‘Music’ theme.
