Each cyclist is looking forward to the start of the Tour of Flanders on Sunday, April 3rd in Bruges.

By using mobile data from telecom provider Proximus, Bruges was able to analyse precisely the visitors density in 2015.
7.8 million people visited the historic city of Bruges in 2015. 1,27 mlj of them were local people living in the region of the city. 5,27 mlj tourists (living further than 20 km from Bruges) were visiting the city for just one day, while 1,28 mlj were booking an overnight.

Bruges is strongly committed to the cyclists. There will be provided space for 700 bikes, which are routed through underground rolling hoops, a proven system.

In addition to the redesign of the square, also the King Albert I Park, close to the "Concertgebouw" will be addressed. It will be integral part of the concept.

The start of the project is foreseen for January 2017. The new square should be finished by July 2018. The cost is provisionally estimated at EUR 9 million.
